About the Role:

A day in the life: Our Fleet and Equipment Mechanic will have excellent problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented. This Fleet and Equipment Mechanic is a crucial member of our company's team. You would be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our variety of fleet and equipment. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including maintenance, inspection, and support tasks to keep our fleet and equipment running smoothly.

On a given day, as a Fleet and Equipment Mechanic, you will:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs such as oil changes, braking systems, washer systems, filter replacements, and other basic maintenance on a variety of medium-duty and smaller fleet and trailers.

  • Assist and/or perform maintenance and repair on a variety of tools and equipment.

  • Conduct regular inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition.

  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed and report any major issues to the supervisor.

  • Complete the red tag process to identify and isolate unsafe or malfunctioning vehicles or equipment.

  • Coordinate with the Mechanic Manager to address red-tagged items promptly.

  • Run errands as needed, such as picking up parts or supplies for maintenance and repairs.

  • Assist in outfitting vehicles and equipment with necessary tools and accessories.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs performed.

  • Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and report any issues or concerns promptly.

  • Adhere to company work safety policies.

  • Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

Schedule & Travel:

This position works full-time, including day shift hours and weekends to accommodate the company's operational needs. This division would provide a flexible schedule. Although this department does not travel for work, we have three divisions that operate around the clock, seven days a week. There is a possibility that there may be occasions where you might need to travel and/or modify your schedule based on the requirements of other divisions.

The qualified candidate we seek is a Fleet and Equipment Mechanic with these QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

  • 1-3 years of experience in automotive or equipment maintenance.

  • Knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

And these COMPETENCIES:

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of vehicle and equipment mechanics, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

  • Tool Proficiency: Competent in using a wide range of automotive and maintenance tools, including power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Documentation & Computer Skills: Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and maintenance schedules. By utilizing a variety of computer applications including Google Suites (i.e.Word & Excel).

  • Adaptability: Adapts to changing priorities and schedules as per the company's operational needs.

  • Time Management: Efficiently manages time and work tasks to complete maintenance and repairs within deadlines.

  • Professionalism: Maintains a professional demeanor, demonstrating dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic when interacting with FORJAK, customers, and vendors.

Additional Qualifications Desired:

  • Ability to perform basic welding, fabrication, and minor repairs.

  • Basic wiring skills.
